Certain actions, while technically supererogatory, are necessary for a believer if they desire spiritual growth, such as fasting, extra prayer, and recitation of Qur’an. While largely optional for much of the year, Allah ﷻ mandates these deeds upon the community during the month of Ramadan, due to which the believer is now forced into spiritually progressing, whereas they perhaps otherwise would have lacked the motivation to do so. The seeker recognizes this blessing and seizes the opportunity to fully immerse into a routine in Ramadan that will allow them to reach their goal of nearness to Allah ﷻ.
