When entering the home:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ الْمَوْلِجِ وَخَيْرَ الْمَخْرَجِ
بِسْمِ اللهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَ بِسْمِ اللهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا

“O Allah, I ask you for the blessing of entering and leaving; in the name of Allah we enter, in the name of Allah we leave, and upon Allah, our Lord, we rely.”

The recitation of this du’a serves as a shield and protects us from the harms of shaytaan, who waits outside of our homes to enter with us. The Prophet ﷺ told us, however, that there is no place for shaytaan to enter a home when the name of Allah ﷻ has been taken before entering. We should also be particular about following the other sunan of the Prophet ﷺ before entering our homes, such as entering with our right foot first and greeting the home with salam. Another means to bring barakah, or blessing, into one’s home is to recite the Qur’an and offer plenty of salah within in it; the Prophet ﷺ would perform all of his fard salah in the masjid, but would offer his sunnah and nafl salah in his home, and encouraged the believers to offer their voluntary prayers in their homes, as well. We should dedicate a space in our homes specifically for salah and dhikr. Having our homes revolve around the salah and remembrance of Allah ﷻ will protect the home from arguments, discord, and other evils that shaytaan instigates.
