Ostentation is seeking to impress people through worship and good deeds. Allah ﷻ does not accept a deed with even the slightest bit of ostentation, or showing off, because it is a type of shirk, which is to associate partners with Allah ﷻ. Ostentation can take various forms and manifest in ways that are clear or hidden, open or subtle. One of the primary solutions to ostentation is to hide your acts of worship just as you hide your sins. With deeds that must be performed in public, renew your intention and realize that no one except Allah ﷻ has anything to offer me in reward. If there is fear that one is performing a deed ostentatiously, they should not leave the action but work to correct the intention.
