The one who possesses the love of status desires the praise of people, that people like, admire, and serve him or her. According to the Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, the love of wealth and status grow hypocrisy in the heart like water grows plants. The pious before us were particular in avoiding positions , ranks, and titles whenever possible, out of fear of it soiling their hearts. An individual should remember that true status does not come from creation, but from Allah ﷻ, and they should instead seek a high position in the eyes of Allah ﷻ and the angels than in the eyes of people. A person should also recognize who they truly are on the inside when they are praised and given status on the outside.
